Here at if i could… we love hearing from past interns! Recently, we received an update from Camille Serrano, a Mount Holyoke College student who spent three months doing an internship in Cape Town. Here is what she had to say about her experience, and her adventures since then!
Camille Serrano shares her thoughts
“After completing my internship in Cape Town, I returned back to the States to complete my International Relations degree at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts.
My internship reinforced my passion for children’s rights advocacy. Since then, I’ve written extensively on moral considerations in South African leadership, child exploitation in South Sudan and I will soon begin a research analysis of attacks on girls’ education in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
I continue to support arts education and youth development. I do so by serving as a Community Based Learning Fellow for a local music tutors program I established. The experience I had in Cape Town is a constant reminder of why addressing child welfare fosters positive change in communities and I look forward to working in the field of children’s rights advocacy.”
